Mental Health
According to NHS Digital, 1 in 6 children aged five to sixteen were identified as having a mental health problem in July 2021.
This is a huge increase from 1 in 9 in 2017. This is five children in every classroom.
At ASK PIP Charity, we have found that it is important to incorporate mental health and trauma awareness with education because it can be difficult for a child or young person to learn if they are silently struggling with their mental health.
Nearly half of 17 to 19-year-olds with a diagnosable mental health disorder have self-harmed or attempted suicide at some point, rising to 52% for young females (NHS Digital 2018).
At ASK PIP Charity, we aim to provide free or subsidised counselling or mental health support for families from low-income households, children or young persons in care, and children or young persons in need.
We will aim to provide several counselling sessions by one of our qualified therapists or counsellors. All our therapists are qualified and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), or any reputable professional body. Our therapist team are checked and has experience in helping families, couples, and individuals across various issues.
They are also required to adhere to our safeguarding policy.
Eligibility will be means-tested as we aim to support those from low-income families/households.
